David Rotariu — Full-Stack Software Engineer
I build software to ship products, solve real problems, cut manual work, move fast, and keep learning.
React/Next.js frontend, Python/FastAPI backend — from idea to production, solo or in a team. Open to full-time and remote roles. Scroll through the work.
Meditoro
In the works
Every tutor I talked to runs their practice across four apps and a spreadsheet. Meditoro (meditoro.ro) pulls it into one place — student tracking, scheduling, payments and automated reminders, built solo from idea to production, including a native iOS app via Capacitor. 10 tutors in active beta managing 50–150 students combined; automated reminders and one-click payment-to-lesson reconciliation cut 3–5 hrs/week of manual admin per tutor.
Full case study when it ships.
Meseriasul
Coming soonIn the works
Finding a trusted tradesman in Romania still happens by word of mouth. Meseriasul gives builders a place to register their trade and clients a way to find, vet and hire professionals — without the phone tag. Marketplace build in progress.

Media Hertz
The problem
Teachers running private lessons juggle enrollment forms, attendance registers and monthly subscription payments — usually across spreadsheets, chat threads and memory. Things slip, and chasing payments gets awkward.
What I built
A full product, end to end. On the frontend: a fast, mobile-first interface for enrolling students, marking attendance and seeing who has paid at a glance. On the backend: the subscription engine — billing periods, payment status, and the data model that keeps attendance and payments in sync.
The result
Live and in daily use. Enrollment, attendance and payments now happen in one place, and month-end reconciliation went from an evening of spreadsheets to a glance at a dashboard.
Sf Ilie Member Tracker
The problem
Elders responsible for visiting 1,000+ church members spread across an entire city were planning visits from a paper directory — slow, and people fell through the cracks.
What I built
A mapping tool built around the visit. Frontend: an interactive map with a searchable sidebar, member profiles and one-tap Google Maps directions to any doorstep. Backend: the member database with geocoded addresses that keeps the map accurate as people move.
The result
In active use. Locating a member dropped from minutes to seconds, and visit planning that used to eat an evening now happens on the way there.
Wedding Planner
The problem
Couples chase RSVP confirmations across texts, calls and relatives-who-answer-for-others — then rebuild the seating chart by hand every time someone changes their mind.
What I built
An RSVP flow guests actually complete, a drag-and-drop seating board for the couple, and a backend that sends every guest a personalized seat assignment the moment the plan is final.
The result
Used at real weddings. RSVPs, seating and seat notifications handled end to end — no spreadsheet in sight.
Gym Tracker
The problem
Serious lifters keep their training history in notes apps that can't answer the only question that matters: am I actually progressing? And getting into the gym still means carrying a plastic card.
What I built
A fitness companion with QR-code check-ins at the door, fully customizable workout splits, and set-by-set logging of weights and reps. A frontend-heavy build where months of logs become a visible progress curve.
The result
A daily training partner. Every set recorded, every PR visible — progress over time you can actually see.
Fila Library

The problem
A high-school library running on paper ledgers: lost books, no idea what's actually on the shelf, and a queue at the desk every break.
What I built
Co-developed with Next.js, FastAPI and PostgreSQL: a digital catalog for the entire collection with a seamless check-in / check-out flow and student management — who has what, since when, and what's overdue.
The result
Deployed at Filadelfia High School and still running daily. Loan registration time dropped 83%, cutting roughly 3 hours of manual admin work a day.
Team Finder
Case studyThe problem
Companies with hundreds of employees have no easy way to see who has what skills, making it slow to staff projects or find the right person internally.
What I built
A multi-tenant HR platform with role-based access, peer skill endorsements, AI-assisted search and org-wide statistics — built collaboratively across 155+ pull requests in a 4-person team.
The result
Won 2nd place at the ASSIST Tech Challenge 2024, competing against professional developer teams from across Romania.
Civic Issue Reporter
Case studyThe problem
Residents have no direct channel to report local infrastructure problems to their council, or to track whether anything gets done about them.
What I built
Built the majority of the frontend for a civic issue-reporting platform in an intensive 2-week program with a 7-person cross-functional team — resident and council-staff views, component architecture and state management, all role-based.
The result
Awarded "React Hero" by mentors for frontend contribution, in a 7-person team spanning frontend, .NET backend, QA and PM.
About
